Reem Mohamad, M.S., CCC-SLP, founder of Communication Unlocked, is an experienced and certified Speech-Language Pathologist and Literacy Specialist committed to optimizing children's language, literacy, and learning. She specializes in spoken-written language and Structured Literacy intervention for supporting reading and writing skills in school-age children.
Reem received her master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions (MGH-IHP). During her graduate studies, Reem received training in the Orton-Gillingham multi-sensory reading method and many strategies that support the development of literacy and reading skills. Through her work with struggling readers, she developed a deep interest and expertise in teaching language and literacy skills.
Experience
For over five years, Reem has been providing comprehensive speech-language, literacy, and cognitive-linguistic evaluations and interventions to school-age children. Many children present with language-based learning disabilities and comorbid emotional challenges due to adoption, childhood trauma, or a mood disorder.
Reem's gentle, trauma-informed approach with her students keeps them engaged and makes them feel emotionally aware, mindful, and cared for in a safe learning environment. Her ability to connect with her students and their families brings a positive and welcoming vibe to the working relationship.
Reem is a bilingual English-Arabic speaker and works with children from different cultures, enriching her cultural humility.
Aside from work, Reem finds fulfillment in spending time with her family and friends, cooking, reading, and exploring the outdoors.
